FAQ Questions & Answers
What does AMFT mean, and does it affect the quality of care I'll receive?
AMFT stands for Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. It means I hold a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy and am completing the supervised clinical hours required for full licensure in California. I practice under the clinical supervision of Karen Hendrickson-Allen, LMFT (#54811), which means my work is regularly reviewed and supported by a licensed professional. Many clients find that working with an associate therapist offers a high level of attentiveness and care—and my fees reflect this stage of my training.
Do you work with multicultural or mixed-culture couples?
Are you faith-sensitive?
Yes. I deeply respect the role that faith and spirituality play in relationships and family life. While I don’t impose a specific religious framework, I welcome and honor your beliefs as part of who you are. You don’t have to leave your faith at the door.
What if we're on the edge of divorce - is it too late for therapy?
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. I offer secure video sessions for clients throughout California. Many couples find telehealth just as effective as in-person and more convenient. In-person sessions are available at Crossroads Family Therapy in Covina, CA.
Do you accept insurance?
I am a private-pay therapist and do not accept insurance directly. I can provide a superbill upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider about your out-of-network benefits.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and whether working together feels like a good fit. There’s no pressure – it’s simply a conversation.
